Project Ebi 003

“How do I get in?” was mostly the response I received after story glimpses of an intimate dinner with Ebi, an emerging Chicago based supper club.

Six invitees were snowed in with Project Ebi curators- Ashok, Billy, and LA Trey in architectural secrecy at the Wicker Park Inn, a boutique Bed & Breakfast completely insulated from the nearby access of the Blue Line train.

More than 5-foot-tall sky blue cabinets encircled a farm style table to couple a rustic appeal with an elegant and airy atmosphere.

As the dinner guests, we each brought a bottle of wine as our personal offering; each bottle distinctively revealing an element about the invitee. We were greeted by new and familiar faces and stemmed glasses that were bottomlessly filled by the hosts, and got to know each other through our palates.

The six course tasting menu was freshly plated and family style, while some dishes, like the butternut squash soup and truffle mousse cannoli, were decadently garnished personal servings. Ashok and Billy talked us around the preparation and main ingredients of each dish, while Trey acted as an atmospheric stimulator, navigating the music selection and capturing the romance.

Through Ebi Dinner 003, six near strangers were brought together to share a communal love for food, wine, and conversation where we realized shared focal points from fashion and design, to travel and writing. We left gifted… grateful to have witnessed an early setting of what Project Ebi will conceive for the city.
